Legend Acres Founder and Head Trainer Kristi Kay May
I am a certified obedience trainer and use positive Scientific Based Approach with Positive Reinforcement with Trust Based Force Free Training. Our training program is designed to allow you to get the maximum results of training in a shorter time frame. All of our curriculum's are 6 weeks long with weekly sessions. Side note we do offer single sessions for behavior modification!!! Our program consists of 4 Obedience Classes Fundamentals, Intermediate, Advanced, and Urban. Those wanting to go on to Service Dog work with then take a Public Access Test and then move on to specific task training. Legend Acres now offers 4 AKC Trick Courses as well as Graduate Classes!!! Behavior Modification and Canine Cognition for bond building and anxiety is built into the obedience classes as customized for you dogs needs.
I currently have a bachelor's in Animal Health Technology/ Pre-Veterinary Medicine from Murray State University. A Masters in Animal Science with a Veterinary Practice Manager Certification at Murray State University. My Thesis was studying the safety and efficacy of nutraceutical treatment of Osteoarthritis in horses.. I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Murray State University in the Animal Health Technology Program. I am a certified Dog Obedience Instructor through Animal Behavior College. AKC Evaluator, CHA Certified Riding Instructor, and CHA Certified Equine Facility Manger. I have a Certification in Equine Nutrition from University of Gelph and a Cognitive Canine Behavior Certification from Duke University. I am a Dog Obedience Mentor for Animal Behavior College and host Externship Students at all our locations. I am a Certified Pet Therapy Handler and Certified Pet Therapy Team with my Golden Retriever Legend through Pet Partners. Legend and I participate in many local schools and programs. I am pursuing a Doctorate of Behavior through Arizona State University and a Behavior Consultant Certification through International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).
