Helping Kids Learn Life Lessons
Stewart, TN – Legend Acres is pleased to provide children with the opportunity to learn important life skills through their participation with Time To Ride®, a national program dedicated to introducing children and families to horses and horseback riding.
Did you know that horseback riding and horse care teach important life lessons? Here are the top ten reasons to encourage children to ride:
1. Horses teach responsibility
Riding teaches kids how to care for a living, breathing animal properly
2. Riding takes commitment
There is nothing more rewarding than taking lessons and staying committed to a goal
3. Riding is a lifelong skill
Most adult riders began as children
4. Companionship
Interacting with an animal has been shown to have a positive effect on people
5. Riding requires athletic ability
Riding takes strength and endurance and is an incredible full body workout
6. Riding encourages pride
Learning a new skill and successfully communicating with a 1,000-pound animal is a confidence booster

It’s never too late to learn to ride. Riding is an activity in which the whole family can participate
8. Riding is a source of many positive emotions
Studies have shown that riding provides numerous emotional benefits including improved self-esteem, communication skills, self-awareness, relaxation, empowerment, self-control, focus, concentration and happiness
9. Learning to ride takes focus
A rider must use his or her brain and body to control and properly communicate with the horse

Time spent at the stable is a very healthy and rewarding activity that focuses on the horse and rider partnership
Time To Ride is a program of the American Horse Council (AHC), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit association representing all segments of the horse industry. Time To Ride’s purpose is to foster the next generation of knowledgeable, dedicated horse owners by introducing school-age children to horse care and horseback riding in a safe, welcoming environment, while helping them learn the valuable life lessons that the sport teaches.
To achieve the Time To Ride Program Facility designation, our riding instructors had to pass a criminal background check and complete SafeSport training through the U.S. Center for SafeSport. In addition, our farm and instructors had to meet a stringent set of standards for safety, physical facility requirements and professional experience.
